Circe by Krista Canterbury Adams

Reading shells of pearly hue,

Scrying the luster

At the center of the wave—

I am mistress

Of all that’s hidden here,

Of what

Remains.

To my ear

I hold this

Polished ridge,

Listen long to its remembrances—

Listen

to the salty song

Of ocean’s burning

Murmuring brightly there.
